Where good news shines
Former Colorado School of Mines basketball standout Majok Deng will take the next step of his career in Spain after signing a contract with Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa Baloncesto.
The two-year graduate transfer helped lead Mines to a 29-5 record last season on its way to sweeping the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles for the third time.
Along with a pair of All-American honors, Deng was named RMAC Player of the Year, first-team All-RMAC selection, RMAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, D2 CCA South Central Region Player of the Year and first team All-District by the NABC.
Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa Baloncesto is the basketball section of the namesake club Cultural Leonosa or La Cultural, a Spanish football team based in León in the autonomous community of Castile and León.
