El Paso County deputies fatally shoot man after responding to disturbance in Security-Widefield

A man was shot and killed by El Paso County deputies Saturday night after he allegedly grabbed and deployed a deputy’s Taser, prompting a struggle inside a home in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance involving a gun at a residence in the 6500 block of Tranters Creek Way, in the Widefield-Security area.
Deputies arrived to find a firearm in the driveway of the home and contacted an a man and woman who were inside.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, when deputies attempted to detain the man, he became physically aggressive and was able to obtain and deploy one of the deputies’ Tasers, leading to a struggle between him and deputies.
At least two deputies fired at least one round each, striking the man, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies provided medical care, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Two deputies were injured and were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. All deputies involved have been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with policy.
The Colorado Springs Police Department is the lead investigative agency for this officer-involved shooting.
