Baby raccoon rescued from engine compartment of semi-truck in Colorado

A rather adorable wildlife rescue unfolded in recent days, involving a baby raccoon who got stuck somewhere it shouldn’t have been.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Services Officer Wylde was called to the scene to rescue a baby raccoon that got stuck in the engine compartment of a semi-truck.

When Officer Wylde arrived, the nocturnal animal was fast asleep and it “wasn’t exactly happy about being woken up” as she attempted to get it to grab onto a catch pull so she could pull it to safety.

The raccoon did, however, eventually grab the pole and was safely removed from the truck. It was returned to its natural habitat.

This incident serves as a reminder to all Coloradans to watch for signs that an animal may be tagging along for a ride somewhere in or on a vehicle before taking off.
