Adult dies after 150-foot fall from steep rock face in small town Colorado
A person has died after taking a fall of 150 feet from a steep rock face in the area of Pine, Colorado, which is located about 25 miles southwest of Denver in mountainous terrain.
According to the Elk Creek Fire Department, the tragic incident took place near Eagles Gate Road and Pine Valley Road, which is less than a mile northwest of the small town’s central area.
The report on the situation notes that it was an adult who took the big fall, with much of that fall being described as a “free fall.” The death of the individual in rugged terrain necessitated a “difficult high-angle rope recovery operation” with the mission not only involving the Elk Creek Fire Department, but also Conifer Fire, the Alpine Rescue Team, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
