ENGLEWOOD — A behind-the-scenes look at Broncos training camp practice Saturday with observations and analysis from The Denver Gazette.

Play of the day

Undrafted rookie wide receiver Kyrese Rowan, who made the team after a minicamp tryout in May, scored an impressive 7-on-7 red zone touchdown. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw a fade into the back left corner of the end zone. Rowan made an acrobatic leaping catch before keeping his feet inbounds.

Position battle

Defensive end: Third-round rookie defensive end Sai’vion Jones has been disruptive over the course of two training camp practices without full pads. He will compete with returning players like Jordan Jackson and Matt Henningsen for reserve snaps on the defensive line this season. Jones has plenty of talent to push himself into the conversation for early playing time.

Stock rising

CB Riley Moss: The third-year cornerback recorded two pass breakups over the course of practice. Moss earned a starting job opposite Pat Surtain last season. But it won’t be easy to keep it after the Broncos drafted first-round defensive back Jahdae Barron. Moss met the challenge on Saturday.

Stock falling

CB Kris Abrams-Draine: The second-year cornerback was gifted an easy interception during an 11-on-11 red zone period. It appeared that quarterback Bo Nix had missed communication with wide receiver Devaughn Vele. But Abrams-Draine dropped the easy pick. It’s just one play. But it wasn’t pretty.

Attendance check

Starting right tackle Mike McGlinchey returned to practice Saturday but did not participate. He watched from the side while wearing a sleeve on his right leg. All remaining active players were in attendance.

Injury report

Inside linebacker Drew Sanders suffered an apparent lower-body injury during an 11-on-11 portion of practice. He was clearly in pain on the sideline while being attended to by medical staff. Sanders was carted off the practice field and required help walking into the locker room.

“We don’t have any information yet,” coach Sean Payton said. “It’s not his Achilles. No. But I want to wait and see once the doctors do the MRI.”

Sanders previously tore his Achilles tendon in May of last year.

Wide receiver A.T. Perry watched practice while on the physically unable to perform list (PUP).
