Man dies after being found unresponsive in showers at state park in Colorado

A 33-year-old man has died after being found non-responsive in the showers at John Martin Reservoir State Park at around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said that the individual who discovered the man at 9 p.m. called 911 and began CPR.

A CPW officer arrived and administered Narcan, and was followed by a Bent County Deputy, Lamar firefighters, and EMTs, who performed life-sustaining measures.

The Bent County Coroner was requested at the scene and pronounced the visitor deceased at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. CPW said that the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.

“CPW offers our condolences to the family and friends of the visitor, and to everyone involved in this tragic incident,” said Dan Kirmer, park manager.
