Birria burrito at 4.9-star Colorado Springs restaurant may be the best around

Fans of great Mexican food should be aware of a relatively new spot in Colorado Springs that’s serving up some of the best burritos and tacos around.

After opening about a year ago, Por Favor Tacos & Tragos has been getting plenty of love, rated as a 4.9-star restaurant on Google Reviews. Located on Centennial Boulevard, the menu features a long list of tacos and other Mexican favorites – slow-cooked shredded beef birria is the spot’s specialty.

During a recent date night trip, my girlfriend and I finally got the chance to check out this spot and it lived up to the hype in every way.

We started with chips and salsa – a classic – and the homemade tomato salsa had plenty of onion in it, providing great flavor and a chunky crunch. And, of course, we tried the margaritas, too. I went with the standard house marg and it was great, but my girlfriend’s cucumber marg was perhaps the best margarita I’ve ever sipped.

After a glowing recommendation from our waiter, we both opted to give the birria a try for our entrees. I went with the birria-burro – a burrito filled with birria, rice, refried beans, cilantro, onions, and cheese and served with consome – and she went with a trio of various tacos.

I know I already mentioned that the cucumber marg might be the best I’ve ever had, but the same could be said about my burrito, too. A perfect blend of ingredients that was filling but didn’t feel too greasy or heavy, it paired perfectly with the consume sauce, which I found myself taking sips of as if it was a soup by the end of the meal. The cheese in the burrito was melted to perfection along the inside of the tortilla, providing a great chewy texture with each bite and the I couldn’t get enough of the spicy hot sauce that was served on the side either.

Staff was friendly, the service was quick, and pricing felt fair. We both walked out with only glowing remarks and no complaints.

Those online rave about the restaurant, too, also recommending seafood options, the elotes, and the quesadilla – I’ll have to go back and give those options a try.

As someone who is always on the lookout for new up and coming restaurants in Colorado Springs, Por Favor is a spot that should be on every local’s list.
