News Nuggets: Denver National Night Out set for Tuesday
The Denver Police Department has announced the return of National Night Out on Tuesday.
The community is invited to join first responders and neighbors for a night that’s all about unity, celebration and crime prevention awareness, police said.
Founded in 1984, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that aims to provide opportunities for positive interactions between residents and law enforcement, fostering a sense of community and encouraging crime prevention, police said.
In Denver, National Night Out activities will take place at six locations:
- Rude Rec Center, 855 W. Holden Place, 3-7 p.m.
- City Park Pavilion, 2001 Steele St., 6-8 p.m.
- District 3 Sub-station, 1625 S. University Blvd., 5-7 p.m.
- Providence Landing Clubhouse, 900 W. Layton Ave., 4-5:30 p.m.
- Village Place Park, E. Albrook Drive / N. Carson St., 5-7 p.m.
- Skyline Park – 16th and Arapahoe streets, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
‘Free Day’ at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science
Explore the Denver Museum of Nature and Science for free at the next SCFD Museum Free Day on Aug. 25.
No tickets are needed for general museum admission on free days, and visitors may walk up at any time and gain access to the Wildlife Halls or permanent exhibitions. A separate ticket is required for the planetarium or temporary exhibitions.

DDPHE public health career exploration camp
Denver high school and college students interested in public health are invited to participate in the Denver Department of Public Health’s free career exploration summer camp on Aug. 5-7.
Through hands-on activities and behind-the-scenes tours, students will explore careers in air quality, health equity, forensics and more.
A complimentary breakfast and lunch will be included.
