The Starting Lineup

Three must-see events this week:

1. PGA Wyndham Championship, final round (1-4 p.m. Sunday, CBS) — It’s the last chance for players to move up in the FedEx Cup standings and slide into the PGA Tour’s playoffs.

2. Blue Jays at Rockies (6:40 p.m. Monday, Rockies.TV) — The AL East-leading Blue Jays visiting Coors Field is a rarity. Rockies icon Dante Bichette’s son, Bo, leads Toronto with 63 RBI and a crisp .293 average.

3. Broncos at 49ers (6:30 p.m. Saturday, 9News) — Denver opens the preseason with more expectations than it has had in years. How much will Sean Payton play his starters?

2 — trade requests from high-profile NFL players in the last two days. First, Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin asked for a trade. Then, Cowboys star Micah Parsons. Trade requests are becoming increasingly common in the NFL.

Box office

Blue Jays at Rockies, 1:10 p.m Wednesday — Colorado native Kevin Gausman is scheduled to pitch for the Blue Jays against his hometown team. Plenty of tickets are available at Ticketmaster.

On this day

Aug. 3, 2020 — Nolan Arenado hit his first home run of the season in a win over the Giants at Coors Field and the Rockies led the NL West with a 7-2 record during a 60-game season. Colorado finished the campaign in fourth place and 17 games behind the Dodgers.

They said it

“He’s excited and the players are genuinely excited for him. It’s good for the Broncos.”

—Broncos coach Sean Payton on DT Zach Allen landing a $102 million extension. Details on D8.
