One dead, one injured in Aurora apartment shooting

Aurora police are searching for a suspect after a woman died and another sustained life-threatening injuries following a suspected domestic violence shooting early Sunday morning.

Just after 3 a.m., Aurora police responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of Cimarron Circle, where they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds, according to an Aurora police news release.

Police said one woman, a 26-year-old, died on-scene, while a 30-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Preliminary investigations has led authorities to believe the shooting resulted from a possible domestic violence incident with known people, police said.

No suspect is in custody as of Sunday morning, who fled the scene prior to officers arriving, according to police.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

The Aurora apartment shooting investigation remains ongoing Sunday.
