Aurora police seek charges in pickup truck crash that killed 72-year-old woman

The Aurora Police Department is seeking charges in connection to a fatal incident where a 72-year-old woman was runover by a pickup truck.

The woman was hit in the early morning of July 29, while pushing a walker at South Havana Street and Jewell Avenue.

The woman crossed in front of a GMC pickup truck stopped at a red light, but fell while crossing the road when she hit a hole in the pavement.

The truck then made a right hand turn southbound on Havana and ran over the woman.

Police said the woman was not using the crosswalk at the time of the incident.

Following the crash, the woman was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

The driver, 28-year-old Yosmar Chavez Rodriguez was issued a summons Wednesday for carless driving resulting in death, Aurora police said.

All formal charges will be filed by the 18th Judicial District.

Police have not yet identified the 72-year-old killed in the crash.
