Car crashes into Adams County sports bar, injures 4

Adams County sports bar crash

Four people are injured and a driver is in custody after a pickup truck drove into the front patio of a sports bar in Adams County early Sunday morning.

The crash unfolded just after midnight outside of the Ugly Dog Sports Cafe, 1345 Cortez St., located west of Interstate 25 and U.S. 36.

Four people sustained injuries in the crash, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.

At around 12:11 a.m., a grey Chevrolet Silverado drove onto the right shoulder of Cortex Street, collided with a guard rail, then veered to the left shoulder and hit the sports bar patio, according to CSP.

Authorities said the vehicle struck four people, two women and two men. One man was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while a man and woman suffered serious bodily injuries, state patrol officials said.

A woman self-transported herself with minor injuries, according to authorities.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation on Sunday morning, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities arrested the driver on-scene. Sheriff’s office photos show the pickup truck in front of the sports bar with body and window damage.

The suspected Silverado driver, Raoul Villa, 22, of Lakewood, didn’t sustain any injuries, according to CSP.

Authorities transported him to the hospital for a blood draw, where he was found to have allegedly driven under the influence, CSP officials said.

The driver faces three counts of vehicular assault while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He also faces three counts of reckless driving and causing serious bodily injury, according to CSP.
