Denver weather: Sunny and dry Tuesday as high pressure dominates the West
Christian Murdock, The Gazette
The heat dome builds more on Tuesday around metro Denver as a high pressure system retrogrades westward into southern Utah, brining an increase to high temperatures across the Front Range.
Denverites can expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be sunny, with a high near 92.
Light and variable winds become southeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

Tonight expect mostly clear skies, with a low around 64. South winds to blow between 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 16 mph.
Hot temperatures in the middle of the week are forecast, with mid- to upper-90s Wednesday and Thursday. The record high for Aug. 21 is 99 degrees, which could be tied or even broken.
Moisture and cooler weather begin a return to Colorado on Friday as the high pressure dome moves into California. This will allow better chances of daily afternoon thunderstorms to form over the Front Range mountains and move eastward into the evening hours.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
