A property owner in Boulder County was issued a felony summons for 4th-degree arson after an incident on August 18 that resulted in a pool house becoming fully engulfed in flames.
According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, a report was received regarding a structure fire on Lookout Road at about 1:50 p.m. on Monday afternoon. When first responders arrived, an outbuilding at a home was found to be on fire, with the fire having spread to surrounding grass and starting to move toward the property line.
Those in the residence on the property were evacuated, as well as animals in a pasture on the property and pets. A few neighboring properties were also evacuated and Lookout Road was closed.
As it would turn out, the property owner stated that he was burning excess wood in a pit located inside of the pool house structure. This presumably started the fire.
The property owner was served a summons for 4th-degree arson due to where he was burning wood and how the grass fire that resulted came close to neighboring property.
The fire was extinguished before it damaged the on-property residence or spread to neighboring property. No human or animal injuries were reported in the incident.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
