Schools reopened in Jefferson County Tuesday morning.
Students at Governor’s Ranch Elementary School lined the red carpet, flashing smiles and pictures as they walked into the school and started the new 2025-2026 school year.
“Part of our school’s creed is to invest deeply in ourselves and others, so this is how we showcase we’re invested in them by making a big deal out of a big deal. This is a big deal,” Principal Ryan Lucas said of the annual tradition to have students enter on a red carpet.
Music blared, cheers were yelled and the class bell was rang.
“Having kids back in the building just brings so much energy. I can’t wait,” Lucas said.
Jeffco Public Schools returned Tuesday morning after summer break, with all schools returning to session for the fall.
