Police tape

Two people are dead after a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle in Aurora on Friday.

The Aurora Police Department said the crash happened near East Arapahoe Road and East Peakview Drive around 3:30 p.m., forcing authorities to shut down the east-west roadway in both directions, according to a social media post shared on the department’s official X account.

A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators did not immediately say what led to the fatal crash. The road was expected to be closed several hours, police said.

Police advised motorists to consider using Smoky Hill Road as an alternate route.
