Denver weather: Rain returns Friday as cool down settles in to month’s end

Denver residents can expect showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Clouds will increase throughout the day, with a high near 86.

Southwest winds between 5 to 11 mph become north northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tonight, showers are likely with possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between midnight and 3 a.m., then a chance of showers after 3 a.m.

It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. North northwest winds between 5 to 10 mph become light and variable. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

This summer Denver recorded 46 days with a daytime high at 90 degrees or higher; June, 9, July, 22 and August, 15.

Each daily high temperature over the next several days should stay below 80 degrees, with rain showers forecast each afternoon all of next week.

Monsoonal flows will bring rain showers through the end of the month as well.

Saturday: A chance of showers before noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 3 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. North northeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming east southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 3 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms likely after 3 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday: A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 74. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74.
