JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A park ranger now accused of stabbing himself at Staunton State Park as part of an “elaborate hoax” on Tuesday conducted google searches that morning for “how deep are arteries in lower abdomen” and “3.5 inch stab wound,” according to court documents obtained by 9NEWS Investigates.
On Thursday the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced that Callum Heskett, 26, was still being treated for injuries and would be arrested upon his release on charges of attempt to influence a public servant, false reporting to authorities, and reckless endangerment.
Tuesday morning, according to court documents, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife employee called JeffCo dispatch after hearing Heskett call out on the radio that he was in a physical confrontation with someone on the Old Mill Trail within the park. The worker said he heard Callum say “get back” and “he’s fighting me,” over the radio, the documents say.
