Virginia Giuffre memoir to come out posthumously

A posthumous memoir of Virginia Giuffre, a prominent victim of convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, will be published by Alfred A. Knopf publishers and available for purchase this fall. Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, compiled the manuscript of her book titled Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice over the course of the four years before her death, according to the publishing company.

Knopf, a subsidiary of Penguin Random House, will release the memoir on Oct. 21 for hardcover, ebook, and audiobook purchase. Giuffre collaborated with writer Amy Wallace to compile her story. Giuffre emailed Wallace in the weeks before she died, saying she wished for the memoir to be published regardless of her circumstances, according to Knopf.

“The content of this book is crucial, as it aims to shed light on the systemic failures that allow the trafficking of vulnerable individuals across borders,” Giuffre wrote in the April 1 email to Wallace, according to a Knopf press release on the publication of Nobody’s Girl. “It is imperative that the truth is understood and that the issues surrounding this topic are addressed, both for the sake of justice and awareness. In the event of my passing, I would like to ensure that NOBODY’S GIRL is still released.”

This memoir will be Giuffre’s first public comments about Prince Andrew, one of Queen Elizabeth II’s sons, since their 2022 lawsuit settlement. Giuffre sued Prince Andrew, who was disgraced from the British royal family following mounting pressure regarding his relationship with Epstein, for sexual assault and settled out of court. Prince Andrew, though never admitting guilt, paid Giuffre an undisclosed amount and also made a “substantial donation” to her charity supporting victims of sexual violence called Speak Out, Act, Reclaim.

Giuffre died by suicide in her home in Australia after suffering injuries from a car crash early this year. The announcement of the book’s publication also follows the Justice Department’s release of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s two-day interview with Maxwell.

NINE TAKEAWAYS FROM DOJ INTERVIEW WITH GHISLAINE MAXWELL

“In NOBODY’S GIRL, Virginia Roberts Giuffre reclaims her voice and her life story with authority, courage, and piercing honesty,” Jordan Pavlin, the executive vice president and publisher of Knopf, said in the publisher’s press release. “In these intimately rendered pages, she charts her journey from victim to passionate advocate for herself and anyone reckoning with sexual abuse. NOBODY’S GIRL offers a raw and shocking record of the depravity she was subjected to within Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s orbit and tells the story of a fierce spirit struggling to break free.”

The memoir will be available for hardcover purchase for $35 and ebook purchase for $14.99.
