Remains of woman who went missing during fishing trip found in Oregon storage unit
Authorities in Colorado have a person of interest in custody that may be related to a missing persons case out of Washington in which a woman was dropped off to go fishing with friends, never to be seen alive again.
In May of 2024, Montana resident 39-year-old He Meihong – also known as Kiki – was visiting her fiancé in Glenwood, Washington. She was dropped off by her fiancé to go fishing with friends off of Highway 14 near Underwood, but disappeared.
More than a year later, a caller reported a “suspicious circumstance” at a storage unit in The Dalles, Oregon on July 29, 2025. With sufficient information to obtain a warrant, the Oregon State Police Crime Lab responded and assisted in the opening of a storage box that was located within a storage locker and the remains of Kiki were found.
Following the discovery of Kiki’s remains, detectives continued to look into leads and tips, with a multi-state investigation of a person of interest in the case also taking place in California, Washington, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado.
Officials eventually identified Richard Michael “Mike” Robinson, 59 and of The Dalles, as that person of interest. On August 25, Robinson was arrested in Berthoud, Colorado by the U.S. Marshals Service on a warrant related to failing to register as a sex offender. At last report, Robinson was being held at the Larimer County Jail and set to be extradited to Oregon.
The case remains under investigation at this time, with all persons of interest and any suspects to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Any charges that Robinson could face related to the case of Kiki’s disappearance were not specified in a press release on the matter, thus what his alleged involvement may have been remains unknown.
Anyone with information related to Robinson or the case has been asked to contact The Dalles Police Department at 541-296-2613.
