Evacuation orders lifted for vegetation fire in Arvada

A vegetation fire in Arvada has prompted evacuation orders for nearby homes on Thursday afternoon, according to the local police and fire departments.

Since around 12:30 p.m., Arvada Fire Department crews has battled a brush/grass fire near 82nd Place and Quaker Circle. The area is east of Leyden Rock Open Space.

The Arvada Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are working to evacuate homes in the area of 84th Place at Quaker Circle and Quartz Street, according to authorities.

At 1:45 p.m., Arvada police said the fire is fully contained.

More than 40 minutes later, police announced all evacuation orders were lifted.

9NEWS aerial footage of the fire’s aftermath shows the fire spread near homes and a neighborhood.

It remains unclear how the fire began.
