Denver weather: Sunshine followed by possible rain Monday around the metro area

The second week of September starts with sunny skies forecast each morning all week long, with a slight chance of afternoon rain showers Monday around the Denver metro area.
Denverites can expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be mostly sunny, with a high near 87. South southwest winds between 6 to 8 mph become north in the afternoon.

Tonight there’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south southeast in the evening.
Continued late-summer warmth throughout the week has high temperatures in the 80s with only a slight chance of precipitation each afternoon.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Light and variable wind becoming south southeast 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 81.
