Denver weather: Sunshine early Wednesday with potential afternoon rain

Denver residents can expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be mostly sunny, with a high near 90. South southwest winds between 5 to 8 mph become east southeast in the afternoon.

Tonight, expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. East southeast winds to blow between 6 to 9 mph become south southwest after midnight.

Rain returns both Thursday and Friday afternoons, with Friday being the cooler day of the two, closing out the work week.

Potentially some rain showers on Saturday show up across metro Denver, but during the second half of the weekend on Sunday, drying out begins and temperatures will begin their climb back into the middle 80s most of next week.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81.
