Westbound & Down to open new location in Wheat Ridge
An Idaho Springs-based brewery has its sights set on northwest Denver for its next location.
Westbound & Down, which operates locations in Lafayette, Aspen, and Basalt, as well as a satellite taproom in downtown Denver and its flagship location in Idaho Springs, plans to open a new brewpub and tasting room in Wheat Ridge by late 2026 or early 2027, the company said in a news release Wednesday.
The new location will have 18 draft lines that service a taproom that spans two adjacent buildings, with a 300-square-foot courtyard in between, and a 1,600-square-foot rooftop patio, according to the release. It will also feature a full kitchen capable of making pizzas, sandwiches and other pub foods.
“This is about meeting demand with intention,” said Westbound & Down CEO and Director of Brewing Operations Jake Gardner in the release. “Denver has long been one of our strongest regions, but we haven’t had a true home there – until now.”
The company raised funds for the expansion through crowdsourcing, collecting over $1.2 million through public support in just two months — one third of the projected window the company opened to reach the initial goal.
The new taproom will be located at 5540 W 29th Ave. in Wheat Ridge.
