Colorado gets first ‘two-star’ Michelin restaurant, 13 other spots get nod
The world-renowned Michelin guide has announced their 2025 Michelin star-winners. Four Colorado restaurants received this high honor, with 10 other places acknowledged with the company’s Bib Gourmand designation.
Earning the highest honor statewide was The Wolf’s Tailor, known for serving up contemporary cuisine in Denver. The Wolf’s Tailor earned two Michelin stars – the first in Colorado history to do so. Michelin described this spot as a “comfortable haven” that “blends creativity, attention to detail, and charm.”
“The meal starts with a trio of canapés utilizing product trim, making a clear statement about the kitchen’s sustainable gastronomy efforts,” reads the Michelin write-up about The Wolf’s Tailor. “From there, meals may include a Berkshire pork dumpling with a turmeric and dill broth, or velvety Colorado bison loin plated with apricot and grilled zucchini glazed with a dried shrimp caramel. A rigorous commitment to local sourcing as well as gorgeously manicured presentations underpin these far-flung creations.”
The Wolf’s Tailor opened in 2018, and has a 4.7-star rating on Google Reviews.
Meanwhile, three other Denver restaurants earned one Michelin star, including Kizaki – a spot that serves up Japanese cuisine with a 4.8-star rating on Google Reviews, Margot – serving up contemporary cuisine with 4.9 stars, and Mezcaleria Alma – another 4.9-star spot with a focus on Mexican cuisine (also included on the New York Times list of America’s 50 best restaurants in 2025).
As far as the Bib Gourmand designation goes – which aims to highlight spots that serve “great food at a great value,” eight places in Denver and two in Boulder were given a nod.
Bib Gourmand spots are as follows:
- Ash’Kara (Denver)
- Basta (Boulder)
- Cozobi Fonda Fina (Boulder)
- The Ginger Pig (Denver)
- Glo Noodle House (Denver)
- Hop Alley (Denver)
- La Diabla Pozole y Mezcal (Denver)
- MAKfam (Denver)
- Mister Oso (Denver)
- Tavernetta (Denver)
Of those 10 spots, Cozobi Fonda Fina was the lone newcomer to the Bib Gourmand list, powered by chef Johnny Curiel who is also the man behind Alma Fonda Fina and Mezcaleria Alma.
