New King Soopers opening next summer

A new grocery store is coming to Louisville in 2026.

King Soopers announced last week that it began construction on a new store at 1171 W. Dillon Road. It’ll be a Marketplace store, the larger format store design from the Colorado grocer owned by Kroger.

“This project allows us to grow our footprint, better serve our loyal customers, and invest in the future of this community,” said Chris Albi, the new president of King Soopers.

The 122,000-square-foot store is part of a $23.6 million investment in King Soopers’ long-term strategy, the company said in a news release. The store will include extra features such as a sushi department, drive-thru pharmacy, Murray’s Cheese Shop and a Starbucks.

It will also include a gas station with five pumps and eight electric-vehicle chargers.

The store is expected to add more than 250 jobs and will open by next summer, King Soopers said.

New Lego store opens in Broomfield

Lego opened a new store in the Denver metro region, this time in Broomfield.

The toy brick company expanded with a retail location in the Flatiron Crossing shopping center along Highway U.S. 36. The store opened last Friday.

The Lego store at Flatiron Crossing is 2,282 square feet. The company said the Broomfield store has one of the largest selection of exclusive Lego products.

The company has 121 stores nationwide, including one at the Colorado Mills shopping center in Lakewood and Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree.

“LEGO Stores are true community hubs — spaces where new and existing LEGO fans of all ages can find inspiration and immersive experiences to build upon their passions,” said Shweta Munshi, vice president of retail experience at Lego, in a news release. “That’s why we are investing to expand our retail portfolio across the United States and are thrilled to be opening a new LEGO Store in Broomfield.”

The Broomfield store includes a Pick & Build Wall, a Mini Tower building area and play tables.

Chick-fil-A opens in Aurora

Chick-fil-A debuted a new restaurant last week.

The chicken fast food chain headquartered in Atlanta announced it opened a location at Quincy Avenue and Picadilly Road in Aurora on Sept. 11.

The new Chick-fil-A added about 90 jobs to the area and is owned by local resident Adam Bridge. Bridge also owns another Chick-fil-A at Chambers and Parker Road, which opened in 2021.

“My journey with Chick-fil-A started when I was a teenager in Georgia, serving alongside an operator who was passionate about making an impact in the community,” Bridge said in a news release. “That value became an intricate part of who I am, and I’ve carried it with me through opening my first restaurant and now opening my second in Aurora.”

The dine-in restaurant with a drive-thru at 21607 E Quincy Ave. will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Beyond bringing guests the same signature hospitality and delicious food that we’re known for, I’m excited to continue planting roots in the community that I now call home,” Bridge said.
