Moose killed after falling off cliff and into roadway in Colorado

A jarring image of a moose laying down in the middle of a roadway is making its rounds on the Internet, prompting concern from the public.

According to a report from local news source Daily Camera, the incident took place in Boulder Canyon, presumably on Boulder Canyon Drive. The moose fell from a nearby cliff, breaking both of its back legs when it hit the road.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife ultimately made the tough decision to euthanize the moose as it was deemed to have no chance of survival due to the injuries sustained in the fall.

This situation captures the brutal reality of challenges animals can face while navigating rugged terrain. If you happen to encounter an animal in a troubling scenario, the best thing you can do is contact local wildlife experts to assist. Do not attempt to rescue the animal yourself, as animals that are injured or trapped can become defensive and violent. Wildlife experts will be able to respond in the most responsible and ethical way, with the right tools for the job.
