Small wildland fire burns in Fremont County

A small wildland fire broke out in Fremont County on Friday evening in the Upper Grape Creek Wilderness area, northwest of Navajo Drive and southwest of Hellgate Way South.

The fire was named the Democrat Fire due to its proximity to Democrat Creek. According to Fremont County Emergency Management, the fire is on Bureau of Land Management lands, and the BLM is on scene with multiple resources.

The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Helitack helicopter will be dropping water out of the Deweese Reservoir today.
