Climber dies from fall in Idaho Springs

Authorities in Idaho Springs are investigating what led to a climber dying in a fall on Saturday afternoon.

In a news release, officials from the Idaho Springs Police Department said witnesses reported the fall around 3:05 p.m. at the 400 block of Highway 103.

Police said the climber was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clear Creek Fire Authority, Clear Creek EMS and Alpine Rescue teams responded to the incident, including a Flight for Life helicopter, according to police.

Police said Clear Creek Advocates also responded to assist other climbers who witnesses the fall.

“Our thoughts are with the people affected and with the family and friends of the victim,” Idaho Springs Police said in the news release.

Idaho Springs is located just over 30 miles west of Denver.

The Idaho Springs climbing death investigation remains ongoing.
