Denver weather: Rain could exceed 1 inch Tuesday across the metro area
An early fall storm continues to bring rain showers to lower elevations and snow showers to upper elevations Tuesday, with metro Denver forecast to receive about an inch to inch and a half of rain when all is said and done.
Denver residents can expect rain and possibly a thunderstorm most of Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. A steady temperature of around 51 degrees is forecast. North northwest winds between 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph to blow as well. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Rain likely, mainly before midnight. It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 49. North northwest winds between 5 to 10 mph become west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Forecast rainfall totals from the ECMWF forecast model by Wednesday afternoon will be heaviest over northern Colorado, with over an inch of precipitation forecast for Denver.

Areas above 10,000 feet in the Front Range mountains west of Denver could receive between 8-12 inches of snow. Lower elevations above 9,000 feet could see between 3-5 inches of wet snow as well.
The sunshine comes back out quickly, however, as drying occurs Wednesday and Thursday ahead of another chance of showers to finish the week out.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 85. South southwest wind 6 to 10 mph becoming north northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 89. Southwest wind around 7 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
Saturday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
