Images capture snowy scene at Rocky Mountain National Park as significant snow hits
With a foot or more of snow expected in some parts of Rocky Mountain National Park this week, a snowy scene has developed.
According to the park, snow started to fall in higher elevations of the park at about 5 p.m. on Monday night, continuing into Tuesday in areas above 10,000 feet of elevation. At lower elevations, cold and rainy conditions have been present.
Both Trail Ridge Road and Old Fall River Road remain temporarily closed. More specifically, Trail Ridge Road is closed to through travel, from the Rainbow Curve on the eastern side of the park to the Colorado River Trailhead on the western side. This includes a closure of the Alpine Visitor Center.

While snow is currently coming in wet and heavy at the park, Wednesday is expected to bring warmer and sunnier conditions.
Those looking to learn the status of Trail Ridge Road while planning their trip can call 970-586-1222. Both Trail Ridge Road and Old Fall River Road should reopen again this season.
