Molson Coors names new CEO who got his start at the company in Golden

Molson Coors Beverage Co., owner of Colorado’s famous Coors brand, hired a longtime company insider as its new CEO.
The board of directors voted to name Rahul Goyal, Molson Coors chief strategy officer, as CEO and president, the company announced Monday.
He will begin his new role on Oct. 1.
Goyal will succeed the previous president and CEO of six years, Gavin Hattersley, who will remain on until the end of 2025 to assist in the leadership transition.
Under Hattersley’s leadership, the company moved its headquarters from Denver to Chicago in 2019.
Goyal has worked for the company for 24 years, beginning his time there in Golden with Coors Brewing. He started out as a group manager in 2001, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“Rahul has strong institutional knowledge given his time with the company and more importantly, he is eager to bring new thinking with a focus on future growth,” stated board Chair David Coors. “The entire board is confident that Rahul’s leadership will drive long-term results for Molson Coors.”

The new CEO said in the announcement that he’ll share more of his plans to grow Molson Coors in the coming months.
Goyal held several executive roles, including chief information officer for Molson Coors’ office in the U.K. and chief financial officer for the company’s office in India. He also ran commercial operations at Coors Distributing Co. and helped manage The Yuengling Co., according to Molson Coors.
The company said in its announcement that Goyal has been instrumental in growing Molson Coors’ portfolio by leading its “Beyond Beer” initiative, such as working with Coca-Cola to develop Simply Spiked and Topo Chico Hard Seltzers. He also was part of Molson Coors’ acquisitions of energy drink ZOA and nonalcoholic cocktail brand Naked Life.
“Rahul has delivered meaningful growth in new spaces for the company thanks to his ability to build partnerships that align with the company’s strategic priorities,” said board Vice-Chair Geoff Molson in a news release.
Molson Coors was formed in 2005 after the merger of Molson and Coors. The company brews some of the biggest beer brands in the U.S. such as Coors Light, Miller Lite, Coors Banquet, Molson Canadian and Blue Moon Belgian White.
Coors was founded in 1873 in Golden by Adolph Coors. The Golden brewery produces about 9.7 million barrels a year and employees nearly 850 people, according to Molson Coors.
