Westminster student in custody after bringing gun onto school grounds
A teen is in custody after bringing a gun onto school grounds in Westminster on Friday, said the Westminster Police Department.
Police received a tip that a student at Mountain Range High School may have brought a gun onto campus. After investigating, officers learned the student didn’t attend classes that day, but arrived on campus after school was dismissed.
A WPD school resource officer contacted the student outside near the bus stop, who admitted to having a handgun in his possession, according to police. The teen was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
At this time, no threatening statements toward students or staff have been identified, WPD said.
