Denver weather: Sunny and warm Thursday, potential record-tying heat Friday

Sunny conditions Thursday are forecast, with one more warm day coming on Friday before a shift to cooler weather and potential rain showers during the weekend around metro Denver.

Denverites can expect sunny skies today, with a high near 83, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Light and variable winds become southeast between 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight will feature clear skies, with a low around 55. South winds between 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph to blow.

The record high temperature for Oct. 3 is 88 degrees, set in 2005. It is possible Denver ties that mark on Friday.

The weekend forecast has a chance for afternoon showers on Saturday and evening showers on Sunday, but regardless of wet weather, cool conditions are arriving.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 87. South southwest wind 5 to 8 mph, with gusts as high as 17 mph.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 68.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66.
