An 18-year-old died in the hospital after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing in Aurora Wednesday afternoon.

The teen was riding the motorcycle on East Smoky Hill Road around 3 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control in a curve and crashed, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release Wednesday. He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the crash, police said. The southbound lanes of East Smoky Hill Road were closed for a few hours while authorities conducted an investigation into the crash.
