Denver weather: Near record heat Friday ahead of a cool down
The warmest day of the week happens Friday around metro Denver, but doubtful a record is tied or broken, yet it’ll be a very warm early-fall day.
Denver residents can expect sunny skies today, with a high near 87, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South southwest winds to blow between 5 to 8 mph.
Tonight, it’ll be partly cloudy, with a low around 59. South southwest winds between 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph are forecast.
Rain showers are possible Saturday, but only isolated storms around metro Denver; most of the action stays in the mountains.
With the passing cold front, however, temperatures will dip significantly heading into Sunday as the high temperature is only forecast to be near 70.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers between noon and 3 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 70. Light and variable wind becoming east northeast 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.
Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64.
