Moose rescued from canal in Colorado with use of a crane

A rather interesting wildlife rescue took place this week prompted by a large bull moose falling into a water canal in the area of Estes Park.
Video from the scene shows the moose with its head just above the flow of the water as crews tied various ropes and straps around its antlers. A larger strap was then placed around the animal and a crane was used to hoist it out of the water.
Once on solid ground, the moose, appearing to be a bit sedated, was released, slowly standing up and shaking off.
It’s no surprise a truck-mounted crane was needed for the effort, as bull moose tend to weigh between 1,200 and 1,600 pounds.
