Woman dies in Thornton crash while exiting off Interstate 25 ramp

Thornton police are investigating a crash near the Interstate 25 off-ramp that resulted in the death of a 20-year-old woman on Saturday.

The crash, which occurred around 7:45 a.m., happened on the I-25 off-ramp at East 84th Avenue, according to a Thornton Police Department news release on Monday morning.

Police said a 51-year-old man, driving a Jeep eastbound on East 84th Avenue, collided with a Toyota sedan exiting I-25 attempting to turn westbound on East 84th Avenue.

The 20-year-old Toyota sedan driver later died in the hospital, police said.

The Jeep driver was left uninjured and remained on-scene, according to police.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information to contact the Thornton Police Department line at 720-977-5069.

“Thornton Police extend our condolences to those affected by this tragic incident and remind all drivers to stay alert and make safe decisions behind the wheel,” police said in the news release.
