Douglas County deputies arrest ‘massage business thief’ after series of tips

Douglas County authorities last week arrested a suspect who allegedly stole thousands of dollars from a Castle Pines massage business owner in August.

On Oct. 2, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Robbie Lucero, 50, of Englewood, who is accused of stealing more than $6,000 from a massage business owner, according to a Thursday news release.

Sheriff’s office officials said Metro Denver Crime Stoppers tips assisted in apprehending the man, after authorities in September requested the public’s help.

As previously reported in The Denver Gazette, sheriff’s office officials said the theft took place on Aug. 25 at 4:45 p.m. During which, the suspect had entered a massage business located in the 300 Block of Village Square.

Authorities were told the man claimed to be from New Mexico and requested a massage, according to the sheriff’s office.

Before the massage, authorities said, the man allegedly asked to go to the bathroom, then stole about $6,000 from the owner’s purse and fled.

Sheriff’s officials noted this likely isn’t the first time the suspect stole money from businesses. In July, the same suspect committed a similar crime at a Northglenn business, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Thanks to the outstanding efforts of Metro Denver Crime Stoppers, the sharp work of our Impact Team, and some good old-fashioned detective work by our lead detective, we were able to identify this theft suspect,” Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said in a press release.

“Let this be a clear message to those committing crimes,” he added, “we will use every tool at our disposal to identify you and track you down.”
