Denver weather: Sunshine mostly on Friday but a chance of showers exists

Friday’s weather around metro Denver will mostly be sunny and warm, however, a possible rain shower could pop up, but the majority of the precipitation action will occur in the western mountains.

Denverites can expect a slight chance of showers between 1 and 3 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

It’ll be mostly cloudy today, with a high near 75. South southeast winds between 3 to 8 mph will blow. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight expect a 20% chance of showers before 1 a.m. It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southeast winds between 5 to 7 mph become light and variable after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.

The majority of rain activity will remain on the western side of the Continental Divide, where up to 3 inches of rain could fall in the San Juan Mountains from the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla.

Weekend conditions on the Front Range and around Denver are forecast to be pleasant and calm, with highs in the mid-70s both days.

The start of next week is a bit cooler, but still seasonal weather for mid-October.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph, with gusts as high as 16 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 75. South southwest wind 7 to 11 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Breezy.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
