Government shut down puts temporary stop to hunting in Colorado canyon
Per a report from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, all hunting is suspended until further notice in Colorado’s Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site due to the federal government shutdown.
The temporary suspension of hunting is taking place during mule deer muzzleloader season, with other seasons potentially being impacted, too, depending on how long the government shutdown lasts.
A full refund is being offered to impacted license holders, as well as a preference point restoration for the upcoming muzzleloader season. Hunting licenses must be returned to a Colorado Parks and Wildlife office in person or an ‘Application for License Refund‘ can be completed and mailed in with the license before the season starts. Mail must be postmarked on or before October 11.
Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site is located in southeast Colorado and operated by Fort Carson as a training location.
