Denver weather: Possible rain Wednesday but still warm

It’s the return of rain showers for Denver on Wednesday, but only a slight chance, as high temperatures remain above seasonal averages.

Denver residents can expect a 20% chance of showers after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. It’ll be sunny, with a high near 79. Expect south winds between 5 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Tonight, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 9 p.m. and midnight. It’ll be partly cloudy, with a low around 51. South winds between 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Middle to upper 60s for high temperatures appear on Thursday and Friday as a cold front passes through Colorado heading into the latter part of the work week.

However, the weekend forecast looks promising, with sunny skies and warming temperatures again as mid-October starts.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 69. South southwest wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
