1 dead in Denver pedestrian crash Sunday
A pedestrian is dead following a crash involving a vehicle Sunday evening in Denver, causing various traffic delays in the area.
The Denver Police Department responded to the crash around 10:30 p.m. in the area of West Center Avenue and South Sheridan Boulevard — in the Westwood neighborhood of western Denver — according to a social media post by the department.
The pedestrian was found dead on the scene, police said. Authorities did not add whether the driver was arrested in connection to the incident.
The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner following the investigation.
Between the beginning of the year and Oct. 2, 25 pedestrians have died on Denver streets compared to 16 during the same time frame in 2024.
Of those 25 fatalities, six occurred on local highways, Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Director Amy Ford told reporters at a press conference in October.
