Woman struck by hit-and-run driver while ‘flagging down help’ after rollover crash on high country road

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in tracking down a suspect in a hit-and-run case out of Colorado’s high country. The incident took place in Park County on the night of October 19 around 11:45 p.m. in the area of mile marker 197 on Highway 285. This is near the town of Jefferson, between Kenosha Pass and Fairplay.

According to Colorado State Patrol, their team was responding to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash involving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma and upon arriving at the scene, it was discovered that the 40-year-old female driver from Denver involved in the initial crash was struck by another vehicle while she was trying to flag down help.

According to the CSP report on the matter, the driver that struck the woman did not stay at the scene, believed to be someone operating a black 2011 to 2014 Volvo S60 with temporary tags. The collision may have resulted in damage to the passenger side mirror of the Volvo.

The woman was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries, with CSP unable to release any additional information related to her injuries at this time.

Anyone with information related to the Volvo or its driver has been asked to contact CSP Dispatch at 303-239-4501. If no one answers, leave your name and contact information.
