Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 reopened near DIA Saturday morning after morning semi-truck crash closure

The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Denver International Airport were reopened Saturday after a semi-truck crashed closed them earlier in the morning.

The crash, which police first alerted on social media at 6:42 a.m. Saturday, is located just before Tower Road, according to an X post from the Aurora Police Department. All traffic was diverted onto the Colfax Avenue exit while crews responded to the scene.

The initial information indicated that the semi-truck crashed into the median and is blocking all westbound lanes, according to the post. The truck also appeared to be leaking fluid; the Aurora Fire Department was part of the investigation team on the scene.

No injuries were reported in the crash. The roadway was reopened as of Saturday afternoon, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation’s COTrip Map.
