The Weld County Coroner’s Office identified the two victims who died in a single engine plane crash near Erie Municipal Airport eight days ago.

Both victims are from out of state: Niles Tilenius, 22, of San Mateo County in California and William Johnston, 21, of Hillsborough County in Florida.

At around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19, police responded to a small JMB Aircraft VL-3 that crashed east of the Erie Municipal Airport runway.

Tilenius and Johnston were the only ones on board.

The incident remains under National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration investigation.
