The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office is currently trying to identify an individual after a shooting incident inside the County Administration Building, 212 Comanche St. in Kiowa.

Approximately 9:25 a.m. on Wednesday, a shooting incident was reported, with the Sheriff confirming one person dead from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

According to county sources, the individual has not yet been identified, and an investigation is ongoing.

The incident closed all Elbert County Government offices on Wednesday.
