Scooter rider dead after crash with driver in Thornton last Thursday
A scooter rider died after he was fatally struck by a car in Thornton last Thursday evening.
The 39-year-old man was riding an electric scooter on West 88th Avenue around 7:45 p.m. when he was hit by a 22-year-old man making a turn onto Lipan Street, according to a news release from the Thornton Police Department.
The scooterist was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to the release. The driver, operating a Dodge Caravan, was uninjured and remained on the scene.
Investigators are still trying to understand what happened in the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it is asked to call the Thornton Police Department tip line at 720-977-5069.
