Denver portion of Santa Fe Drive to close for 5 days next week
Replacement of railroad tracks will prompt road closures throughout a portion of Santa Fe Drive in south Denver through most of next week.
From 4 a.m. Nov. 10 until 5 p.m. Nov. 14, Santa Fe Drive at Cedar Avenue, just north of Alameda Avenue, will close for railroad work.
The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) requested the closure “in the interest of public safety,” Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure officials said in a news release.
DOTI officials urged motorists to consider detours to avoid northbound Santa Fe Drive at Alameda Avenue, and the closure could cause backups on Alameda at that intersection, officials said.
Recommended detours include turning either direction onto Alameda Avenue, before running into the full closure at Cedar Avenue. Drivers on Interstate 25 should avoid the Alameda Avenue exit for the entire week to avoid added congestion and delays.
