What’s in store for Water World’s newest attraction for summer 2026

Add a new swimsuit to that Christmas list because ‘Summit Canyon’ is set to debut next season

In summer 2025, Coloradans said goodbye to Calypso Cove at the popular water park in north Denver.

While beloved attractions like ‘Screamin’ Mimi’ and ‘Tortuga Run’ will be missed, new renderings of the reimagined zone offer some glimpses of the excitement yet to come.

Hyland Hills Parks and Recreation released the renderings in a recent statement, giving visitors a sneak peek into Water World’s newest attraction, “Summit Canyon.”

“Summit Canyon will offer something for everyone with unique thrill rides and spaces for children to play while parents relax,” Bob Owens, Deputy Director of Enterprise Services said. “And with more modern amenities, we’ll be able to offer events and experiences entirely new to Water World.”

Water World’s rendering shows a new kids area that includes five small slides funneling into a small pool, a lily pad balancing course to walk across, a second small pool play area and more places to sit with plenty of shade.

Additionally, the rendering shows a new slide complex.

The slide complex appears to include two enclosed body slides, a modern two-person raft slide with two boomerang elements and two small funnels, plus another raft speed slide. It is unclear the manufacturer of each new attraction.

In addition, there is also a new kiddie wave pool or beach area for families to unwind by peaceful shores, and additional chairs and umbrellas throughout the new “Summit Canyon” providing relaxation and shade.

Water World amasses over 50 water slides on 70 acres of land. The Federal Heights water park, a part of the Hyland Hills Parks and Recreation District, opened in 1979

More details about “Summit Canyon” will be released later this winter through Water World’s social media channels, and at www.waterworldcolorado.com/coming-soon.
